I spoke with my CAS coordinator to see if any eleventh graders were starting a project similar to mine. She told me about a student who had similar ideas and started installing bins in Potrero Beach and partnered with local scouts to maintain them. I got in touch with the student and gave him some advice as well as the contacts of some of the people I worked with throughout my experience. I advised him to have a concrete plan for his project and to know how to adapt to change or anything unexpected. This makes me feel relieved that someone will continue with similar objectives making a change in the area, and makes me believe that people will continue doing this as their project in the years to come. I also believe that my mentors and the organizations I worked with in the project will continue helping local projects and individuals who want to work in this issue, and hopefully complete some of the objectives that I couldn’t achieve.
