Impact of Torrential Rains and Flooding on Wild Honey Bees

The storms have been extreme in the Cape with lots of flooding, giving Jenny the opportunity to observe wild honey bees responding to the wet in Cape Point Nature Reserve. For short periods, bees can cope with being underwater. They create a huge air bubble from their thorax and breathe from this. These intimate images show some of the wet River bees taking care of each other.
