Transformations

Overall I think my project has had a really big impact on the community of La Paz. I have seen a change in how people perceive self expression, as well as confidence; and all of this while raising funds for the scholarship program which provides students of low resources with the opportunity of having an education that they may not otherwise be able to reach. I’ve also been able to see a change in the girls confidence levels, even though I don’t see all of them every single day, i do talk to them pretty often whether that’s on the group chat or at school e.t.c. This weekend that just past actually, we had our rehearsal for the show which os this week! Before starting the actual rehearsal, I made them all sit in a circle and I had a talk with them about confidence, comfort and empowerment. After all they were the ones who designed each of their outfits, therefore they should feel the most undefeated and powerful in them. After the whole discussion we had, some of them expressed their feelings about the show and it is normal to be nervous, I mean they are walking in front of around 100 people. But the point is that once we got started with rehearsal, I could see their confidence in their walk, they weren’t afraid to show their attitude, there winsomething different about each and everyone of them because I told them to add their own personal touch to it.We even practiced with them coming up in front of me posing and continue their walk and they were able to carry it out amazingly. More than feeling proud I enjoyed the fact that their confidence was evident, they were enjoying the time and themselves; and that is the message that I am trying to spread with my project. This project has transformed me to be co0me more patient, which is something I;ve had to work on for a long time, I am working with girls that are from grades 3 up to 9th so there are different levels of responsibility, maturity, consistency and more. I have learnt to manage situations even if they don’t go as planned, I’ve learned to enjoy more time I spend with others and to value all of these moments that will soon turn into memories. It might sound a little over the top but I really do feel this project has influenced my whole highschool experience and to a certain point my personal life and I am happy to say that I am proud of it so far and can’t wait for the show this weekend!.
