On our field trip last Friday I was able to understand myself better and reflect on the personality traits the test gave me. I am a gold, there were only four of us in the class who got gold, and only two were true golds (the other had half split scores). I think I agree with my color, although all of my scores were within one mark of each other so I can see parts of myself in each color. It’s interesting to see how you are reflected in different colors depending on how you act, or the decisions you make according to the test. The other 4 people in the gold group also seemed to be in the right place, judging from how I know them as classmates we work similarly in terms of our organization and pride in our work. As a group or a class, we have many different personalities and styles, I think overall we work and fit together quite nicely. Of course, there are times where the groups don't work well, and that can be from a variety of outside factors, but our class is very dedicated and we have a mutual respect for each other. In terms of the actual color wheel, gold’s complementary color is blue. I think this also makes sense in terms of personality because as a gold I am such a structured and almost “bland” person that I need someone like a blue in my life, who has the feelings and the empathy (in general I am super bad at expressing feelings). We can really take this information and apply it to the classroom by not only identifying our own kinds of people, and who we might work well with, but the people who are least like us, and seeing how working with them can actually bring a great mix/variety to your group and ideas. By doing this we are able to dive deeper into the learning process of CAS and the IB traits which will guide us.
