During the field trip, we had to fill out a form which allowed us to identify which colour, with a significance, corresponded to each person. The colour that identified with me was blue, which meant that I was empathetic, kind, a good listener, as well as being understanding. At first I was shocked with the result, since the strengths listed within that colour were mainly a representation of sensitivity, but once I reflected on my past, I got to realize that some of these strengths were actually true and they did connect with my personality, which left me surprised but also satisfied. The other people within my group as well fit the description of the colour blue, since i’ve known them for a very long time, so I know them quite well, and this activity allowed me to actually have a better understanding of what is not only happening on the outside but as well in the inside of my peers, which allowed me to connect with them at a deeper level.
Some observations that I can make about the type of personal styles that we have as a group is the creative aspect of my peers. During our field trip, we did this activity where we were given a bag per group and we had to build something with the materials given to us. I was so shocked on how my team balanced off our ideas to create something that was unique and different from all the other teams. We allowed ourselves to set our differences aside and collaborate as a team, which was something that was beautiful to my eyes.
Yes, during the first activity we filled out a form and we got to know what the other colours meant to us, the second most apparent colour in my life was orange, which meant that I was free thinking and had freedom in my life. At first, I didn’t really understand what that meant but once again I reflected on my past experiences and tried to know why that colour identified with me, it clicked in my head. The colour orange was an important aspect of my life since it was actually the representation of me from the outside, which is as well important, to keep a tough face but still be free at the same time. I understand why orange was my colour and I hope to keep understanding the significance behind it everyday.
Some ways we can take this information into our work in class or in our CAS projects to work collaboratively in positive ways is to comprehend the fact that knowing yourself first before trying to apply your knowledge to others can help an individual lead to success.
