Vacation Involvement with CAS- Creativity _ Grace Herman

December 30th, 2019 Over this year I have begun the process of deciding what to study in college and where to go college. As a part of this process, I went to visit colleges in Boston and Chicago at the beginning of this break. I visited Boston University and Loyola and then two art colleges, Columbia in Chicago and Emerson in Boston. When touring these colleges I was reminded of how important it is for me to be creative. It is a huge part of who I am and I have pushed it to the side during IB. Being at these colleges inspired me to start creating again and make me aware that I need to make sure creating, whether it is writing or acting, is what I want to do in the future. This sparks my creative involvement over the break. I decided that I would start writing again. A couple of years back I wrote some scripts and enter them in competitions where they did fairly well so I've decided to do that again. Over the break, I planned to work on a script for the Writetopia competition based in New York. My goal for the break was to finish the first draft so I would be able to edit during school. And I did! The competition's theme this year was fear so I wrote about the fear of the future pulling from my experiences on the college's tours earlier in the break. Doing this I remember the importance of creating has in my life. As dramatic as it sounds I feel more like myself when I am creating and I now am excited to continue to write throughout the rest of the year. Thanks for reading, Grace Herman
