Vacation involvement with CAS- Service- Catalina

Vacation involvement with CAS Creativity- cooking a dessert 23/ 12/2019 Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year, it is a time that I get to spend time with my family and the Argentinian community. For the Argentinians, food is a really important aspect of the event and therefore every family must bring well-prepared dishes. This year, I noticed that my parents were busy with work and therefore, I wanted to help with the food for the event. I decided to make a cheesecake with strawberry topping. While preparing this dessert, I was able to work with my grandmother and learn about her cooking techniques and I got to connect with her while doing what we both enjoy to do. It was a fun time because I love to cook and I was excited for people to try it out. While preparing the dessert I got to experience an activity that I am passionate about, I always liked cooking but I never thought that cooking would make me feel accomplished and lose track of time. I was happy when it was time to share the desserts because I put a lot of effort into it and I wanted to do something different and special for the occasion. It turned out super delicious and perfect. My expectations for this dessert were somehow low because I messed up with some ingredients but at the end of the day, the dessert surprised me with how good it turned out. During this experience, I was able to learn that many times helping my parents doesn’t always have to be such a big gesture, it can be small things that make their day way easier and less stressful. I also got to learn how to be patient and use time wisely because the preparation for the cheesecake was complicated and I had to wait for 3 hours while it cooked in the oven. Work collaboratively with others, identify strengths and areas for growth, consider the ethical implications of your actions.
