Week 2 Journal Entry

 At the beginning of my project, I am feeling good. It was stressful to already have changed my whole project idea, but I know this will be a better fit and result in a more productive outcome. I had to redo my feasibility study, my CAS considerations and figure out what my new goals were. I needed to manage my time wisely in order to catch up on these couple of assignments while staying on track for the class. I am pretty excited that I will get to be a part of starting up the Feria because it was a really important event for our class and the community in general. I am also feeling a little nervous about actually being able to bring back Feria because Covid has been hitting each of the classes at school and I’m really not sure if it is safe/ethical to put on a social gathering. One of the SMART goals I have for my project is: To bring back the Wednesday Ferias this trimester, while finding new innovative ways to improve it, meanwhile being conscious of Covid regulations and the ethical implications of holding social gatherings. This is a SMART goal because it specifies exactly what I want to accomplish (bring back the Feria in a safe way), it is manageable because I have a group of people helping me, and very relevant because our community is missing this event! Covid will determine if this project becomes achievable but it may just take some creativity and rethinking. I think bringing back the Feria will be a big hit, I know many people who miss it and vendors who would benefit from it. I have already seen tremendous action from parent volunteers which is amazing so there are definitely many people willing to help. The Feria benefits the community by giving vendors more places to make money, bringing families and friends together, and having a positive/uplifting event at our school.
