What CAS means to me

Through my CAS journey I have not only learned what I love to do but I have also helped improve and bring joy to my community. I have had two different projects. Both of which have been focused on creating a positive effect on my community. My CEPIA Christmas party was the first to not take any funds from another important project which focuses on providing school supplies to families who can not afford it. It was a long and difficult process however the rewarding feeling that was delivered at the end made it all worth it. My other project which I started around the beginning of this year has focused on proving women with IUDs who can not afford them. This project works to create a feeling of security and power in these women’s life. It provides them with a choice. Wrapping these projects up makes me both happy and sad. Happy because I can move on to help with other issues but sad because of the connection that I feel I have created with the people involved in these projects.

I hope that when I leave La Paz I remembered as somehow why is there for you and fun to be around. I do believe that I will be remembered for my CAS project. This is because I have helped families who go to our school. I believe that they will be grateful for the impact I have tried to create and how I have tried to help. I feel as though CAs has not only provided me with a sense of self but it has also provided me with a way for me to advocate for new opportunities. I can use it as a way to vouch for myself in job interviews, college and other things. Through CAS I have not only discovered my strengths I have also found out how to better them and use them to my advantage. I learned that I am an effective organizer, I am a good communicator, I love helping others, I enjoy planning events and I am always there to fill in when something is needed. I have also learned about some negatives. These being that sometimes I get lazy and unmotivated when things to go exactly as planned. I loved learning about these traits and figuring out effective ways to use them. CAS is an outlet for me. It taught me ways to effectively use my energy and it has helped direct me and teach me how I want to move forward in life. Through this class I have decided that I want to pursue something that helps others. I want to work at an NGO and I want to study business and sociology in order to equip myself with the best possible tools to do so. CAS is an amazing class that teaches you responsibility, accountability and teaches you about who you are!
