This trimester I was much more engaged in my project, I had more involvement with the community, and was able to make lasting progress. Some of the tangible things that I accomplished are working on the garden in Tempate with Sio, starting a Go-Fund-Me to get sponsors for household gardens, creating an extracurricular football elective after school, and taking tennis lessons. One of the challenges that I dealt with was making progress while in Boston, I was able to use what in the past was a challenge as an opportunity. I talked with family and friends to gauge the interest in sponsoring household gardens and there seems to be a lot of it. During the second half of the trimester, Sio was very busy and was away for much of the time which has caused me to have to start the funding project without much of the necessary quantitative information meaning I still have a lot of work to on the website once I get the numbers. Overall I would say that I have spent around 10 hours outside of class this trimester, I plan on spending a few more on the website, and then continuing to make progress over the break. If I could go back and do things differently I would have been working with and learning from Sio from the beginning which would have doubled the time that I had, however, I am able to use many of the risk management skills that I had to develop during the first trimester to be prepared if my initial plan doesn’t work one week. Something that I am proud of is the fact that I am going to be able to help give families a way to eat healthily, learn how to work in a community, and even create a small business opportunity for them.
