Update: What makes you really excited about your project?
What makes you really excited about your project?
Why is this project important to you? This project is so important to me because I have started to see the real impact that the Feria has in our community. Before I worked on the Feria for CAS, I only thought of it as a small part of my week where I would get an extra snack, but now, I truly see what it does for some of the vendors. After interviewing some of our longest lasting vendors last week it made me really happy to be able to provide this opportunity for them again. They commented on how Covid affected their business and how many different people they are able to reach with our Feria. Apart from helping out the vendors, the Feria is just a great tradition for our school. I love that I get to be a part of it, and I am so glad that it could return even through Covid.
Has it made you even more passionate about your project? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, seeing these changes and seeing the difference we are creating is making me more passionate every week in order to move forward with the project. I love meeting with the team, coming up with new ideas and working on making the Feria an overall better experience for the community. I do wish we had more class time though! The week is always so busy for me and I know I could spend more time on every part of this project if time allowed it.
What have you learned about this issue that you are solving that everyone should know? An issue we have discovered recently is just a lack of customers as well as vendors. The ratio is proportionate, but we want the whole Feria to grow in general! This is hard due to Covid measures, but we are still missing the busy Wednesday afternoon vibe we used to have. I think the main thing that people should know about this is how much of a difference they can make. Each person has the ability to make the Feria better by just showing up and spending 10-15 minutes walking around and talking with vendors. Getting to know each table and simply stopping by will make a vendor's day, even if nothing is bought. This is something that I am going to be working on in the future with marketing and research.
