Wild Bee Research at Bloukrans conservation farm in the Karoo

All 1000 hectares of wilderness on this conservation farm is dedicated to endangered tortoise rehabilitation, springbok freedom and rewilding previously farmed land. Jenny has been invited to study the wild hybrid honeybee population. The Karoo is a name that comes from an ancient Khoisan word meaning 'Land of Great Thirst'. It's an ancient landscape where one can connect with significant human history told in the venerable  languages of symbols and signs. The San had a significant presence on this land in the ancient past as evidenced by their fertility cave and rock art.   Click here to learn more about the farm and our accommodation.
