A Hospital in Space?

In the video, Lauren Church described fabricating medicines for sick people on Mars using materials on Mars. If we are going to go into space, we must first figure out what resources are going to be available on Mars. Will there be certain chemicals or minerals present on the surface? Can they be used for medicine? I don’t think that robots are feasible, especially if they are heavy and have not been developed for space. Like people, robots might work differently in space. Lastly, this is the part of the post I find most interesting. Will there be diseases on Mars? With the recent discovery of water, it is possible that by tapping into Mars’ resources, we might also discover a dormant virus or bacteria. It is unlikely, due to the conditions of Mars’ surface, but still worth considering.
