Really interesting questions! I wonder if the answer is competition (like inviting commercial businesses to join in on the development) or cooperation (sharing knowledge and innovative strategies across the board) will lead to cheaper space suits. It does seem like Russia and the US share one engineer, and the US stores some of the Russian suits, so maybe they are already cooperating?
SpaceX’s suits seem flashy, and I wonder if some quality is lost in trying to produce a cheaper suit.

Hi theperpetualadventurer, I agree with you that it is possible that the US and Russia are already cooperating in space exploration. With some US astronauts being testers for both Russian space suits and NASA space suits, it is clear that the teamwork is there and prevalent. Some new technology that outdates older ones may also be cheaper, ultimately diminishing the current prices of astronaut space suits.
