Growing out of childhood

I would say I stopped considering myself a child when I stopped sleeping with a lamp and a stuffed animal. In my head when I was smaller I thought that to seem older I would need to stop sleeping with my monkey stuffed animal and be able to sleep in the dark. So of course my child’s brain thought it would be smart to give away my stuffed animal to goodwill which I now somewhat regret since my Mom did not know at the time and would have kept it as a memento to my childhood. Of course, it is different for everyone like my older sister is 19 but still has her stuffed animal on her bed, I do not think not having a stuffed animal makes you not a child its moving out of that mindset which happened for me when I got rid of my stuffed animal.
