There are definitely lots of benefits of hacking photosynthesis and the scientists in the video clearly emphasized the need for more food to be available for the rapidly growing population. More food in larger sizes would mean fruits and vegetables would be more accessible and less expensive. However, this does come with clear concerns of the trade-off for attaining these crops. Humans can shape nature for better or worse to help produce a promising future, having these “super plants” would be revolutionary but it could also be extremely detrimental to the environment, which seems counterproductive.
