Happy Birthday Rachel Carson

Today we celebrate the life of Rachel Carson, also known as R.L. Carson, who is considered the 'matriarch of the modern environmental movement.' She grew up in seeing the industrial revolution dirty the streets in her town, and devoted her life to studying nature. When she saw the destruction of chemicals that were put in the environment (like this pesticide DDT), she spoke out about it. And people listened! Even today, we can use the wisdom she gained by paying attention to the world around us. "Wonder and humility are wholesome emotions. The do not exist with a lust for destruction."
