We should have medical equipment, basic first aid, IVs, saline, and anything able to treat common medical issues. We should also make sure anyone going to space is also going to space with someone who has the same blood type as them so that we do not have to transport blood in bags, only in humans, to space.

Hello jennavanderhulst,
I agree with this, but I think that we would need to carry a lot of blood bags. We might not be able to get people with the right blood types to help people, and we could get someone with O negative blood. However, this person could get hurt, or they can’t donate any more blood. We would also need to carry extra blood because of surgeries because of a lack of gravity.

Under the circumstances that the person becomes unwell, we would need to sacrifice someone. Blood bags indeed do expire, so it isn’t the smartest move to bring those on board. Matching everyone’s blood type is the smartest situation, but incredibly hard to find the details for every single one. I remember hearing something that can replace blood temporarily? I don’t remember exactly what it was but we could use that instead.
