Jean-Jacques Muyembe

Muyembe is a microbiologist who discovered the Ebola virus, as well as how to treat and prevent it. While trying to first learn of the virus, he was one of the firsts to survive after contact with the virus. He was attempting to get liver biopsies from three dead nuns who caught the virus, while he may have survived the encounter, the results were inconclusive. Later on, he gathered blood from a nurse with the virus and had it analyzed at an institute and sent onto Peter Pilot who was the one who directly discovered the virus.
