Learning in sports

I am very involved in sports and spend quite a bit of time practicing them. But because it is just a day-to-day thing, I can easily automate it, so if I learn something new, I don’t actually get any value out of it, as I was using my automatic part of my brain that day. But what I have been doing recently to combat this, is to think very carefully and deeply about any type of information that comes in, so I can process it better, and actually learn what I am being taught.

Hello! I also am very fond of sports as well. I used to be a ballet dancer, so I totally understand the idea of having to memorize and practice and perform a lot of the repertoire. I also understand the feeling of becoming too automated in sports. If you do something for long enough it becomes second nature and becomes automatic. I do find as well that paying attention in the present moment and finding new things to accomplish helps combat this.

So, instead of you just blowing over the information and letting it go through one ear and out the other, even though you might understand it, you take the time to fully comprehend what you are being taught.
