Learning Techniques

When learning I think it is best for me to actually do it. Because sometimes when they are describing what I will learn it becomes confusing. Like what the person said in the video, it seems like unfamiliar and new information. But as I do things, I realize that a lot of the time I either overestimated or underestimated how hard it would be. When I joined band I was overestimating how hard it would be because I thought people would be way better than me. It turns out we all were pretty much on the same level and that I was just worrying too much. The person in the video showed a harpist playing a song by memory and that made me remember playing a song so much that I did not have to look at the sheet music anymore. So practicing the same song over and over eventually made me automatically know what to do. Something I underestimated was volleyball because I previously joined a beginners club and then joined a more advanced club. I was not expecting everyone there to be as advanced. Then practice made me more used to the sport and more confident. This was an example of how I did the ‘chunk’ method in the video. I used my previous knowledge and compared it to my new experiences. Overall my learning techniques would be practicing and chunking information.
