Life Belowe Water

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), officially known as Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a set of seventeen determined “Global Goals” with 169 targets between them. My SDG is #14: Life Below Water. I want to do this because I want to solve the problem of water pollution so less people will die because of water pollution. In all 5 oceans of the world there is pollution. Water pollution is very harmful to humans, animals, and water life.

The effects can be very bad depending on the chemicals, concentrations of the pollution and where it is polluted. Also, overfishing, climate change, and pollution have had a devastating impact on the whole marine water life. Many big corporations such as Dow Chemical Company pollutes in water near their company. Dow chemical pollutes and sells stuff that many people pollute such as paper towels. Dow also makes Hydrogen Bombs and other deadly weapons. But, Water pollution started since the beginning of human history but it became a big problem in the late 1800s.

In a sense, our oceans, rivers, and other inland waters are being destroyed by human activities-not so they take up less room, but so their quality is reduced. Poorer water means water pollution. And with water pollution, many water life animals die and hundreds, of thousands of people depend on water life animals. And the most common effect of water pollution on humans is disease. For example water pollution can also hurt and even poison the water life animals we eat, such as fish. A school of fish can be poisoned and a restaurant sells the fish to people, and people who ate the poisoned fish might die. And because of this, many people will die because of water pollution.

I am going to try to solve SDG #14 by boycotting Dow Chemicals because Dow Chemical pollutes in the ocean and they are apart of the problem why at least 1 person/kids die every minute. But, what would you do to help stop water pollution around the globe????
