Mae Jemison is the first woman in space. She was part of NASA’s astronaut’s corps in 1987. She was part of the STS-47 mission in which she orbited the Earth from September 12 to 20 1992 for almost eight days. She was an important figure not only to Black people but, also to women as she is part of the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Her first book, “Find Where the Wind Goes”, tells her story as a child, a student at Stanford, and an astronaut. Book Report has also found that her professors did not treat her based on her intelligence but, as a person of color. That may be a struggle that she has gone through. However, that did not stop her from being successful and inspirational to many people.

This is so interesting. It’s so cruel that her professors didn’t treat her according to her accomplishments or intelligence, but rather the color of her skin. I also think it is very powerful that she still went on to be the first woman in space.
