Marie Curie

Successes: Marie Curie is famous for her discovery of the radioactive elements: polonium and radium. She also was responsible for the huge development of X-rays. Ultimately, she was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Physics and later on, in Chemistry. Challenges: Like everyone else, Marie Curie did have to face harsh challenges on her way. First, she could not get into the male-only University of Warsaw. Second, she could not earn an official degree because she lacked the financial resources to pay for the school. Lastly, she lost her mother when she was young and then her father when she was older. How ever harsh these challenges were for her, she still kept fighting and eventually overcame them.
