My struggle with procrastination comes and goes. Some months I find it hard to stay motivated and focused which makes me overwhelmed. Then I procrastinate in an effort to relax but that just makes things more overwhelming in the long run. Some months I have no problem staying on top of things. To stop an overly procrastinated mindset I developed a system that works for me. I plan one big activity each month and I tell myself I must complete everything I need to get done before I can go. This big activity gives me something to look forward to and is a reward for working so hard (a reward for my gratification monkey). My inner rational decision-maker has been very successful lately. I just worked hard to apply to several jobs and actually just got a job because I refused to procrastinate. These strategies have helped me build a better mindset and keep motivated.
