Moral Questions with science

I personally think that the speaker presents a really interesting point. He discusses how we feel no sympathy for rocks, because we inherently believe that rocks themselves cannot suffer. I think this puts forward the idea of using science with morals in regards to when dealing with animals in science dealing with the concept of them being able to suffer. If they are able to suffer, then through science we can examine our own morals and beliefs over whether or not the animal in question can suffer and therefore our own humanity.
