    Collin’s March Einstein Project

    1. Choose an issue-based problem.

Our friends are moving in two doors down from us and need help during a pandemic where we are supposed to be social distancing. We want them to feel welcomed and supported.

    2. Think about solutions to that problem. Select a service experience that connects to it. What group of people will your project help?

We can help them carry boxes from the moving truck to the house while keeping a 6-foot distance between people. We can show them we are excited for them to be moving in by “heart-attacking” their door while they are not home. We can offer to help while they are out of town.

    3. Research. Where would you look for information about how to address the issue?

We listened to the news and read articles about social distancing and how to stay safe during a pandemic. We learned that we should stay 6 feet away from people that aren’t in our family and wash our hands for at least 20 seconds.

    4. Build a team. Whose help will you need? Think big!

I got my mom, dad, brother & sister to help.

    5. Advertise. How will you let people know about the project? Choose several ways to get the word out. School Newsletter, Local News stations, Teacher’s website, School website, Flyers. (Outline all of the details. How will you distribute? Who do you contact, and what do they say?)

I didn’t advertise because we are supposed to be social distancing. My family all helped.

    6. Raise money (if you need to).

I did not need to raise money.

    7. Carry out your solution. List the steps you follow

Step 1. Called our friends and asked how we could help.
Step 2. When they didn’t call to ask us to come help, we saw the moving truck and came anyway.
Step 3. We kept a safe distance and washed our hands really well after helping.
Step 4. We cut out hearts and wrote messages and waited for a good chance to sneak over. The next day, we saw them go for a walk as a family so we hurried to tape up messages on their door and windows showing them that we were happy to have them as our neighbors.
Step 5. When they had to go out of town a couple days later, we offered to come over and take care of their tortoise every morning.

    8. Evaluate, reflect and celebrate. How did it go? How would you have changed your plan?

It went awesome. They were so happy that we came to help them move. It is hard to find people to help when everybody is trying to stay home and away from friends. They sent us a message thanking us for all our help.
