My dad is in the military so I move a lot. With this, I use to have a big fear of moving. I was worried that I would be disconnected from my friends and would have a hard time adjusting to the new move. I got over this fear by constantly repeating it. I have moved from Oklahoma to Texas (which I don’t remember because I was three), from Texas to Wisconsin, and from Wisconsin to Arizona. With each move, I learned that there are ways to get over this big fear. I used strategies like planned phone calls and joining church groups and clubs to integrate into the new place. Now I think that I don’t mind moving because there are still ways to connect with my friends and also join the new community.

Wow! This is an inspiring story! It’s awesome you have strategies to integrate into your new community each time. Where did you live in Wisconsin! That’s where I grew up, though I never even moved once and always dreamed about what it would be like to start over and explore a new place!

Your experience kind of inspires me to come up with a plan to face my fears. I like how you came up with strategies to help you overcome your fear. I never really thought of coming up with a plan to help me get over certain fears. Strategizing how I would overcome my fears seems like a helpful way to tackle them head-on.
