Spelling Bee

In 6th grade, I had won the class spelling bee, the school spelling bee, and even the district spelling bee. I was on the road to county spelling bee. I would have to represent not only my school, not only my district, but my entire Maricopa County. There was a lot of pressure. I was very afraid that I would mess up and the weight on my shoulders grew very large. I felt as if I had to succeed or else everyone would be disappointed in me. However, looking back I realized that I was stressing for no reason. I was 13 competing against other 15 and 16 year old children. The achievement was already done and I had already proved myself to the entire district. After taking a step back and realizing just how far I had come, I realized that I have already done very well in spelling complex words far beyond the scope of my current education level. I was learning words from Russia! Although I ended up losing pretty early in the county spelling bee, I was proud of myself for making it that far and overcoming all my previous competition.
