Who Is George Lucas? Biography Book Report By, Collin Wilkinson George Lucas loved race cars. He decided to quit racing after a bad car crash. He also loved photography. He decided he wanted to learn how to make films. He got a scholarship at Warner Bros. and was given a job helping another Director. He loved Science Fiction comics as a child. He wanted to make an action movie set in space. When he first took his Star Wars script to Hollywood, nobody knew what to make of it. They all told him no. So, he went to work to edit the script and develop the characters. He was later successful in pitching his Star Wars movie and it ended up winning 5 Academy Awards. He also created the Indiana Jones series, beginning with Raiders of the Lost Ark. He came up with the idea for this movie with Steven Spielberg while they were vacationing in Hawaii together. He also made many sequels and prequels to the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies. George’s company, Lucasfilm, created the sound effects for Jurassic Park which was created by his friend Steven Spielberg. He eventually sold Lucasfilm to Walt Disney Corporation for $4.05 billion! He had 4 children: Amanda, Kate, Jett, and Everest. Some of them were adopted. George Lucas teaches us that if you work really hard and keep trying you can accomplish what you put your mind to. It wasn’t easy for him to become the richest filmmaker but he did it!
