Contrary to popular belief goldfish do not have a 3 second memory span. When I was younger and would forget something my brother would tease me and say I had the memory of a goldfish. A three second memory span. However goldfish actually have a much longer memory span. According to an article on https://www.abc.net.au/news/2008-02-19/goldfish-three-second-memory-myth-busted/1046710 a fifteen year old in Australia proved this wrong. He put a red lego into his fish tank at feeding time then sprinkled food around it. The fish were scared at first but then got used to it. 7 days after introducing the lego at feeding time the boy — Rory — took the lego away. A week later the lego was re-introduced and the fish immediately noticed it and swam towards it waiting for food. This shows that while the memory span of a goldfish may be short it isn’t three seconds.
