A new Update entry has been added to the Engaging Youth Through Service! Project.

"The 9th, 10th and 11th grade students received a workshop from Francini Zuñiga Ramírez, a professor at the Universidad Nacional and a self-defense instructor certified by the Grupo Mujeres Fuertes CR and the Latin American ESD (Empowerment Self-Defense). The students learned about the 5 key principles of self-defense, empowerment techniques, and elements of healthy vs. toxic relationships. It was a great program, for both genders. They were able to spend time with their peers grappling with the need for this work both physically and emotionally. They were in spaces with people that they feel comfortable with and were able to push those boundaries with their classmates. It was a great use of the La Paz Fund to bring this type of activity to the classroom."
