This week I have helped even more with Manchas, this time working on making him look at me and teaching him the word yes. This is necessary for this type of training because dogs save the moment that they get the reward as the moment that they are doing the right thing, so by using a word like yes to teach them that a reward is coming, I can save that moment sooner. This works because of Pavlov's psychological theory. This was an experiment in which Pavlov would ring a bell when he was going to feed dogs, and eventually the dogs' mouths would drool even though there was no food in sight. This training uses this theory to be able to give the dogs their rewards sooner and make it easier to reward them.This type of training is not only effective for dogs, but can also be applied to other animals and even humans to reinforce positive behavior, therefore relating to my goal of being a psychologist.
