2nd Trimester journal entry

What are the goals of your project?

• Right now, we want to, again, create a website where parents of La Paz can find a safe babysitter for their children. The real goal Is that the project runs and functions properly; this won’t happen in a long time because we have to work on it a lot for it to function. 

What are the milestones that you will need to meet to obtain those goals in the next trimester?

• We first have to figure out the website. We really have to finish it and I know I always talk about this and how we desperately need to finish, but this time it’s the reality. If we want to recrute the babysitters in highschool we need to have a stable website for the function of the project. We can’t just promise these teenagers a way of earning money and for some of them a fun activity and then never actually do anything. Therefore, the first and most important milestone for this trimester is to FINISH THIS WEBSITE. Sometimes I also feel like it’s just me working on the website because one can only do it on one computer and, therefore, Samantha is just observing me as I work and she doesn’t do much, so it would be nice to also find a way for her to be a part of this. 

How will you know that you have succeeded?

• I think that one of the only ways to know that we are successful, at least on a small scale, is when we hear about a highschooler’s experience while babysitting his assigned student. Apart from knowing how it went and what we could do better, I already know how great it’s going to feel to know that what we did working together worked out in the end.

What is needed this week to get you started? (marketing, meetings, emails, other communication, etc.)

• I think that getting to class and immediately talking to Samantha and telling her that we have to GSD, like Miss Kerry says, is the main priority for this week at least. It would be very productive if I worked on the website during the week but I do have plenty to do this week; I’ll definitely find a moment though.
