Amanda- Journal Entry January 25th 2020

I came back from vacation with lots of ideas such as fundraising for the old age home in Santa Cruz or talking to the veterinarian Karla Carvajal that mentioned wanting to create a castration project alongside Youth Taking Action. For this reason, the entire team is putting efforts into making a touching and well-made video about the project and its importance in hopes that we receive a donation. The team continued to have the beach clean-ups that have represented a lot of the project but not entirely. From this clean up that happened in Potrero beach I was able to develop the following learning outcome: demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. Ocean pollution is a problem that affects all of humanity and marine species. My goal is for the end of this trimester to do a castration campaign alongside Dr. Carvajal and go with various volunteers to the old age home. The fundraising for these events can get pretty difficult since we would need a lot of money however this can be done if I take risks and make fundraisers never done before at school while still maintaining a balance with the rest of my other classes and my personal life.
