Amanda- Journal Entry July 27 (2019)

The following activity was organized along with Universidad de Costa Rica and Youth Taking Action. The goal was to make questionnaires to the people who visit Playa Grande in the canton of Santa Cruz about the peoples thoughts on the pollution and cleanliness of the beach. The results of the survey were confidential, were used for research purposes and progress of the actions that are implemented to improve the management of waste. We arrived to the head office of Marino Las Baulas National Park where we were welcomed by the university volunteers who thoroughly explained to us how we should do the surveys. Once we headed to the beach we walked around for 1 hour during the hottest time of the day and were able to survey 5 people. We decided to take a short break to drink water however the place where we sat down had a lot of garbage; so we picked it up and went back to the head office. Once we arrived we were offered some refreshing juice and afterwards we did some recycling of plastic and bottle caps.
