Beach cleanup

Today I was able to help a group of people from my living area of Mar Vista clean up Brasilito beach which is a beach near us. Recently the tide has brought in a lot of trash from the ocean and a lot of people from the community were noticing it when they went to the beach. We decided to do something about it. When we got to the beach we could see the sand full of colors instead of the dark sand that is normally there so we retrieved the garbage bags and got to work. There was a group of us there picking up trash for an hour. The only reason we stoped was because the rain started to come in but in the end we were able to collect 8 garbage bags full of plastic, toothbrushes, shoes, bottles, straws, styrofoam, toys, and much more. It's important to help the environment when you are giving the chance to reverse the harm that humans as a society has conflicted on it. A quote that Alex the women that called us all to the beach cleanup said was “I like to think of this as the ocean telling us to help it clean up and so we have to take the opportunity to clean the beach”.
