CAS Show and Tell JE

Since the beginning of the school year, my CAS project has changed. I started out by planing on taking over the project of building a bus stop in the Mar Vista entrance for the community to use. However, plans changed once the school decided to build the bus stop. Since my project idea was taken from me I had to come up with a different idea. I decided to start a project related to swimming since it is the only sport I actually like. I started working with connect ocean to get a WSI certificate to teach kids how to swim and hopefully get them to enjoy swimming as much as I do. I would say I got a bit behind since I didn’t have any WSI classes for a month and didn’t get to learn about teaching swimming lessons. Although I am not receiving any classes at the moment, I was offered the opportunity to teach a little girl who doesn’t know how to swim. This will help me put to test the skills I have learned so far in my past classes. My expectations for the swimming classes are that I’ll be able to teach Ester how to at least have an idea of how to swim freestyle and to know how to make sure she feels safe under my watch. What I think is the hardest part about learning from a book is that I don’t have my instructor with me to clarify any questions I might have and thereby I won’t have the best understanding of how to teach someone how to swim. I am proud that I was able to find a new project that I will be working on and that will help me keep expanding my knowledge of swimming.
