Cata Human Resources Week 4

This week I was able to move forward into my project as I got to communicate with Tanya, Miss Cat and I got to prepare everything to start sending emails to businesses on Monday the 25th. I contacted Miss Cat because I want to know if any student from the scholarship program is having difficulties completing assignments because they don’t have the materials to do it with, and communicating with her will allow me to communicate to Tanya and let Sage Brush Art Studio make the donation of the supplies. Here is the Link to donation email template to send businesses, this document has the letter that I will be sending the businesses from La Paz to ask for donations. I am planning on sending these starting Monday the 25th so that we can have more donations for the upcoming weeks. I also created a Facebook account to join the Families of La Paz facebook so that I can post the thank you letters for the people who do the donations and to do some marketing. On Tuesday 27th I am planning on helping to deliver the Canastas to the families so I contacted the teachers that I have for online classes that day.
I noticed that it is going to be challenging to communicate with Tanya since she answers my emails like 5 days later. So I might have to find a new alternative to communicate with her. I was able to grow and develop as a learner as I was able to transition into what it is going to be the hardest part of this project, transitioning into asking businesses for donations. I was planning on doing this by walking around town and asking personally but none of the stores in Tamarindo are open so that would not have made sense. I think I have to learn how to become a good communicator through email as it is going to be the main platform with which I am going to ask for donations so I have to be professional at it. To be more prepared I decided to make a template so that I am more structured and I know that the information I am delivering is the correct one because I don’t want to create problems and cause unnecessary stress to Tanya and Holly.
As an individual, I think that in general, this project has really made me understand that I have to be grateful for what I have and never be ungrateful because there are people out in the world that wish to have what I complain about having. I am also able to understand better the amount of work that goes into planning a nonprofit and the amount of local support it needs, and that is why it’s so hard because you are trying to persuade people into believing in your mission. I became better at expressing my ideas and thoughts through Gmail as I am using this platform more and I want to keep improving my writing skills because I don’t want to give businesses the wrong impression.
For the focus training, I did exercise and since I’ve been exercising for over 3 years now this has naturally become part of my day to day. I enjoy exercising because it gives me time for myself and for my goals and I really appreciate that. On the other hand, exercising does allow me to concentrate and focus, and that’s why I always try to do it after 4 and right before starting homework. I notice that this week I had some ups and downs as I was motivated some days and others not as much, but I am proud of saying that I’ve done some type of exercise each day of the week and I definitely feel better internally and externally.
