Cindy – 2020 Journal Entry #39

Green Power is an non-profit environmental organization. My mission is to protect the animals and the environment, but this is everyone’s responsibility and starts with understanding the issues. Our main goal is to involve as many people as we can from different communities starting in Potrero and Huacas to create projects for lasting solutions. I truly believe that education is the key to reach people´s ideologies. With that said I can introduce my first mission statement that says:”Consider our actions in relation to the environment in order to celebrate our  life in mother earth”. We are an organization that wants to be part of different events and be able to support other organizations with the same purpose since it’s important to recognize that working collaboratively will bring solutions in less time though taking more effort from our part. By organizing beach and community clean-ups, reusing materials to create trash cans or environmental signs, giving information about our daily impact and how global issues related to the topic might be affecting us directly or even indirectly, reforestations and also planning workshops about waste management and single use plastic. Every activity that we organize is to spread the word about how we can improve our lives and the lives of others by giving the example and becoming leaders of different towns near our communities. As said before, our organization is also about helping animals, what I mean with this is that everytime we plan activities if we see dogs or cats in need of some help we will act in order to protect them as much as we would protect nature and its resources such as water and trees. I am convinced that younger generations have brilliant minds, the only problem is that they do not have the initiative to put those ideas into real life projects. That’s why we are different from our generation, because we believe in changing the world and at the same time we make an effort to prove it. I have learned that humans get use to organizations cleaning their mess when the intention from our part is to let them know that we should all join together to take responsibilities from our bad choices. There are some things to do in our project such as: our budget, think about dates for every event in our agenda and start working on fundraising. Also, we think that “Humans should control the impact of their actions to be aware of what’s happening outside their bubble called life.” and that “We are 100% sure that our world can be better if we enable new methods to make great changes.” The said before relates with each one of our goals since our mission is to achieve the impossible and keep running the organization for more years with the help of other generations being in charge of it. Moreover, I can say that my passion for the environment has changed my perspective of life ever since I planted a tree and picked up a plastic bag for the first time in my life. In that moment I realized how they way we think reflects in our actions and that we always forget that the universe is connected to our lives, therefore everything we do or think will return in the same way or maybe different. Green Power it’s not just a “CAS project”, Green Power is my passion and personal project. I will no longer change the future of the world with my project but the future of society.
