Cindy – Journal Entry June 1st, 2019.

On June 1st of the present year I worked in collaboration with an environmentalist group from Playa Brasilito in order to organize a resforestation event in the community. Amanda, Katherine and I (my Youth Taking Action team) worked hard to get donations and do bakes sales to get money for the snacks that were given during the activity, such as: banana, pineapple and watermelon. It was quite impressive the amount of volunteers that were able to help and plant 350 trees from 8:00am to 10:30am. Students, parents and little kids came to the event with a huge enthusiasm, therefore I learned how important it is to make sure that communities have a space where they can relieve from stress, communicate with their neighbors, friends, family and new people while doing something as simple as planting, which if it is seen from a difference perspective, it would be considered as the smartest thing a human being can do nowadays, due to the chaotic world in which we are living. Also, there were some challenges with the weather since it seemed like a storm was coming but luckily the sun came out again and the event was a success. I could improve my communication skills and being balanced because I could organize my time in an effective way in order to assist to the event and take care of my school work over the weekend. By being part of this project I came to the conclusion of how important is to work together since, according to TOK class... knowledge is always a production of collaboration.
