Cindy – Journal Entry September 12th, 2019.

During this day, I organized a beach clean-up and small reforestation with the help of my mentor Holly Cippa and volunteers from Potrero as well as my whole class of eleventh grade. We went to Playa Penca and Playa Potrero at 8:30 am. I divided my whole class in two different groups, one was in charge of planting trees and the other group was in charge of the beach clean-up. We planted more than 30 trees from 8:30 to 10:30am. This was an incredible experience since we all could bond together, give back to our mother nature and learn about the importance of doing this kind of things since, a volunteer gave a brief speech at the beginning of the activity about how essential it is to plant trees but also to take care of them in order to make sure they grow. Also, I could get donations from "Hotel Bahía del Sol" and "Asada de Potrero", they donated snacks, bags and reusable gloves. This project was a great initiative since, a lot of people that do ATV tours do not respect the space of the beach and by planting those trees, we make sure that the access fo them it is limited to teach them how to respect nature. I could be the leader in this activity and organize as well as plan everything in order to make a successful event. Now, I know other people from my community that will be able to provide me their support in future environmental projects.
