Cindy – June 7th 2020, Journal Entry #26

During this week I was communicating with my mentor and presenting her a document with an idea I had related to the play I am organizing with miss Martha and the 11th grade class. I created a document where steps and recommendations were included in order to make an effective script and performance, my mentor approved it and gave me the opportunity to lead the class to work on the script for 30 minutes of the class. I could put into practice IB skills such as communication and being open-minded. I was a communicator because I could give effective and clear directions to my audience about what things needed to be done and an open-minded person because I needed to hear and try to include the ideas that I was getting from the entire class in order to make the play work. I went through the document I created before starting to give directions to make sure everyone understood my objectives and recommendations. I am really grateful for having the opportunity to lead this project since I have been learning how to be a better leader, communicator and improving my creativity by organizing parts of the class. Some challenges throughout the week was to make sure I balanced my time to create something useful for my audience, complete other assignments and train myself to make sure I provided the information in a good way that was clear and useful. In the same matter, I was able to learn about some business content, more specifically about the financial and non-financial rewards and I was so amazed by it that I realized I can connect it to this project since by being graded on this assignment I am getting the reward called “recognition”.
