Cindy – May 29th 2020, Journal Entry #25

During this week I was working on my communication with my mentor to figure out a way in which I can improve my work and planning for the next class. Also, I got to learn about the theories of motivation from Daniel Pink and Frederick Taylor which gave me some ideas about how I can work with my class. I kept doing the focus activity, although this time it was not meditation but hiking and doing something kind everyday, it could be making dinner for my family, a dessert they like, listening to stories from my dad or just being present by doing something simple with my family. This kept me motivated all week because sharing meaningful times with them made our bond stronger and my mood stable. I have been brainstorming ideas about how I can help my mentor develop the play for Casa de Bernarda Alba, where we can get the prompts, help the students write it and perform. I am working really well with miss Martha in this project because we are excited to see how the play results. This next week I will be planning an activity to see if my mentor would like to incorporate it to the class, which will be based in helping the students discover a way in which they can write their part of the play in a unique and personalized way. During this process I put into practice the skill of balance and inquirer since I had to keep myself busy thinking and planning yet, I could organize my time to finish projects and have personal time and do my focus activity.
