Cindy – May 8th 2020, Journal Entry #22

During this week I was focusing on self training studying the different types and why they are important in an organization. I also did some research about the topics I am interested in teaching and communicated with my mentor through an interview. It was quite interesting to know and understand how miss Martha feels about the eleventh grade class and the work she is doing. Her advice helped me to put myself in the right path before starting teaching with her. I never imagined I would be able to prepare myself and a class, which is why I am really putting effort in the project… because I know I am growing while I am planning and organizing to help others grow as well.

Some IB skills that I am putting into practice are inquirer, open-minded and balanced. I can say that I am improving being an inquirer because I have been doing a quite a lot of research in order to understand the class and the content they are studying as well as open-minded by being able to receive the perspective from miss Martha and convert it in a strength for when it is my time to be her assistant. Finally, I have been putting balance in practice because I have scheduled my school time as well as rest time quite efficiently in order to not over stress and have time for myself and family.

This project has been inspiring me not only because of all the content I am learning for IB related to business, but also because I will be connecting with others and finding skills I never thought I had. I believe this experience will be beneficial for my future since I am passionate about the job I applied for. I am looking forward to implementing my ideas in this eleventh grade class where I will not only teach but also learn from myself and others.
