Focus Journal Entry

Motivational week

This week in CAS we focused on motivation, we read an article (https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/your-concentration-training-program-11-exercises-that-will-strengthen-your-attention/) about motivation and we each had to chose a recommendation from the article and complete it daily. I chose exercising my body and improving my mental strength both something necessary for me.

Exercise and mental strength

Knowing that I had Covid-19, I need a little more time to recover. I attempted to exercise with some cardio, and then added push-ups, squats, and jumping jacks to finish it off. After doing 20 reps of everything x 4 my body was starting to get tired, I was at my limit. This told me my body was physically out of shape, since the previous weeks I was laying for a long period of time. Then later that night I wasn’t feeling very well, I had a large headache and was extremely tired.

The result from this activity

After doing this activity I concluded that my body was physically out of shape, doing exercise proved this. But I did gain mental strength since I got up and despite still recovering from Covid (even though I didn’t have symptoms anymore) this showed that I wanted to change and see what the limits of my body were.
The way I was feeling later at night is what ended my conclusion. I had a large headache and was tired from the previous workout since my body wasn’t fit for it nor ready. This means I have to take it easy for a little longer, letting my body recover from the virus.

Moving forward with new activity

Since I can’t partake in any exercise what I’m going to do is begin eating healthier, this can connect with mental strength since I’m beginning to get my taste and smell back, each day getting better. This makes it especially tempting to eat unhealthy food since it’s something that I’m craving to eat. I have begun eating more fruit like bananas and apples and cutting snacks like cookies and candy. Something else I want to improve is my posture, this is because I was laying most days on my bed when I had Covid and it messed up my posture.
