Students Sponsoring Students is an organization that was founded by a graduate student from La Paz Community School and continues to be run by students. This organization focuses on the students that form part of the scholarship program by helping them with their financial needs outside of school. We believe that for a student to be successful they not only need a good education but a good base, the individual should be able to practice an extracurricular that is of their interest, they should be able to have good hygiene and they should be able to have the necessary materials to use at school.
Our mission is “We want to be a powerful group of individuals that motivate and support the scholarship students by bringing the community together”. To fundraise money to be able to help scholarship students, by organizing events that target the community of Guanacaste offering diversity in culture and activities. Currently, each one of these 42 students aims to cover a need. Each student requires a calculator, computer, journal and other materials that enhance their academic experience. Apart from that, they need financial support to pay dentist appointments, extracurricular activities, personal necessities, etc... The school can ́t help with these necessities, therefore, Students Sponsoring Students are the ones who take over. In the remainder of our IB time, we want to buy 10 computers for scholarship students to be able to use effectively. In a year, we plan to initiate a lot of events that will help us achieve this goal, in order to accomplish successful results.
