Human Resources week 9- Cata

Yes, there is fear
Yes, there is anxiety
Yes there is isolation
Yes we are in a pandemic

During difficult times
Gratitude blossoms
As a community we are wholesome
And helping is awesome

Not everyone is born into the same conditions
But that is why we work to help those in different positions
Together is how we survive
And together is how we strive

In Costa Rica most is based on tourism
And with the borders closed
Our money is in isolationism
Some have it easier than others
But those who are struggling are the confronters

No money to buy food
Little income to sustain a household
So hunger is what they conclude

The most privileged connect
To be able to make a change
The change starts with us
So I decided to engage

Buying fresh fruit and vegetables each week
So that these families in need
Could have something to eat
Food is a necessity
And we gotta make it a priority

Learning and trying
Communicating and applying
Nothing is easy
When the world is a little busy

Through endless emails
And endless waitings
Patience is key
And that is a skill
That is part of the journey

I learned what it is like to put others before myself
Their needs and necessities
And how to help

When waking up and being grateful
Life is easier and everything is more peaceful
Giving doesn’t always mean receiving
And in this project, I learned how to give
And be content with what I did

Sometimes we don’t realize how grateful we are
Until we realize what others don’t have
In a world where people are constantly yelling
You have to be the ear that is willing to listen

I learned how to listen and how to be available
Balance is important to make time to delegate

Responsibility
Asking for help
Reaching out to the community
And not feel ashamed

Empowerment

Growing up I didn’t realize how lucky I was
With a home and a family that supported me
But through this project, I learned how grateful I should be
Because some have it harder than others
And I realized I am lucky among my sisters and bothers

While being in COVID
You can’t be afraid
Miss Amy gave us a project
That made us keep growing throughout the day

Job enriching our academic experience
And Tanya being my paternalistic leader
For them, I am grateful for motivating me to keep working
And giving me job satisfaction

Throughout this project, I explored the pyramid in depth
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory
That is crucial for individuals loyalty

Trying to meet the needs of these families
Was our purpose for this project
Focusing on the physiological needs

Fresh fruit and vegetables each week
Makes their stomachs not be weak
Food is a necessity
And we treat it with priority

I was empowered to make a change
And for Tanya I am grateful
For leading me along the way

On Tuesday morning when I delivered the baskets
I experienced what mentoring was like
Off the job training, I did at my house
On the job training, I did when the canastas were around

Communication along the way was important
But sometimes it was unabundant
Some days I didn’t know what was going on
But some days I was guided all along

Taylorism is the theory I identify with
Because I want to finish everything fast
And be the best at that
I am motivated by extrinsic motivation
Because I like to see that my work is in motion

Smiles here
Smiles there
That’s the one reaction we got
Every Tuesday here and then

What you are ignoring
Others are desperately wanting
Many are in hunger
While others are wasting food

We gave to those who needed it
When money wasn’t a thing
By collaborating and appreciating each little thing
That each family had to give

From donations of the community
Supporting this mission to a profundity
A small investment can make a big change

I got to work with Tanya all the way
And Tati helped me along the way
Miss Amy encouraged me to work harder and do better
And I tried to improve to be more helpful

In the car with the sun heating
Waking up early to pick up the fresh fruit and vegetables
On our way to school, talking and thinking
“What can we do to better improve?”

Getting to school and distributing the food
Separating the items so everything is good
Communication and working collaboratively
Is the key to making everything equally

Even tho most was online
Some days I got to experience it live
Most was through the screen
But my connection and feelings improved my esteem

Even tho nothing changed
I got to grow and see how I arranged
Helping is not always easy
But the littlest things make the biggest difference

As I got to work with Tanya
I got to help with the donations
And be a communicator
Finding new areas to cater

Even tho the structure is still the same
There were some challenges I overcame
By sending a lot of emails and finding new donators
I had to be an innovator

The organization is already stable
Lots of people are behind the operations
Joining in was for the experience
And to be extra help for the superior

Even tho the change is not a huge quantity
I am transitioning into becoming the leader of this entity
I got to ride along the journey
To better myself and understand the project properly

Some days I felt useful
Others I felt unuseful
My work for Tanya verified amongst the days
And I had to be aware of my new details every day

Sometimes I got frustrated because I didn’t know what to do
But that taught me to better improve
My patience and adjust my working groove

I had to wait and communicate
By sending endless emails all-day
Trying to find new sources of finance
And finding better options for the canastas

For Tanya I am thankful
For letting me form part of this project that is so thoughtful
And has shown me nothing but how to make life more meaningful

In days I didn’t feel my best
I remember the change we did in someone else’s life
I learned how to acknowledge the good I already have
And spread that energy around

After this project
I wake up blessed for what I have
I hope this feeling can last
Knowing that life is hard
And some live it in the dark
It warms my heart
To know we are their light
