IB Video Reflection (June 26)

What are you excited about and why?

I am excited to go more deeply into my CAS or Business project next year and actually make this project come true and go on this trip with the other volunteers. I am also excited about starting to learn subjects and create projects (IAs, CAS….) based on my interests.

What are you worried about and why?

I am worried that because of CoVid-19 this trip and project can’t come true and actually take place. Not only because of closed airports, but because people are in saving mode and trying to survive, this makes fundraisers much more difficult to become successful.  I am also worried that we are still going to be on online school, which can make classes and home works lose their purpose because it becomes hard to learn through this method.

How can you teachers help you? Give 3 specific examples.

  • Teachers can help me by giving enough time to work on an assignment depending on its size and what’s it about. For example an assignment about researching and writing an essay can’t be done on a single week.
  • Teachers can help by making class and projects entertaining and worth learning this way teachers can grab students attention and make them learn something in a different or new way.
  • Teachers can also help by giving after school help either for an assignment or project where someone is having difficulty with. They can also help by being available throughout the day (Both email and on person) where students can reach their specific teacher and ask them any question or doubt about that specific assignement.

What strengths do you have that will help you with the program?

Some strengths that will benefit me on IB are leadership this is because if for any class we need to work on groups I know I can help my classmates and me to finish and do everything on the project, I can also work independently very well so which can help me during my IAs, CAS project and any other independent project, my writing skills are also a big strength that will help me when having to write reflections, projects, journal entries…

Who do you look up to that went through the program and how do you create relationships with them to support you through the program?

Someone that I look up that went through the whole IB program I believe is Sam Hanson because I could see him and learn how he works compared to other people that also went through the program, but when I was in 6th or 8th grade where I wasn’t on Chirripo. I also was able to work with him on the Student Government and actually see what his process is and how he thinks and solves problems.

What makes you prepared for CAS? What makes you excited about CAS? What makes you nervous about CAS?

I think that this last trimester made me feel prepared fro CAS because for me or what I think it was was a introduction or a mini CAS preparation. I loo back and I see a normal  (Or what I think is a normal) CAS class. Many of my classmates including me have already a project ready and started for next year to continue on CAS.  I think what makes me more excited about CAS is being able to choose your own project and especially the project that I have already started. I believe that if CoVid-19 is resolved and cured by when this project needs to take place then this project would be amazing and an experience worth doing. What makes me more  nervous or worried is CoVid-19 because of all the regulations and cuts and everything that its done that will make my project or many CAS projects impossible to make and go through because people can’t help fundraisers or because you can’t travel to where you project takes place or many other reasons.
