Journal Entry – 7/2/21

1. CAS to me is the opportunity given to students to get a foot into starting their own initiatives and a platform given by schools for students pursuing their interests. It’s something required by the IB and MEP because of the importance CAS has for students to learn to start a project from scratch and overcome challenges and succeed. I chose my project for the coffee house because it suited my interests. It allowed me to provide for my community while remaining relevant to me and my hobbies. The resources of past coffee houses are available to me to lay the foundation for future coffee houses to come under me. 2. Most CAS projects have been deeply affected by Covid and the consequences Covid has had on the community. It’s removed a lot of opportunities to collaborate with local businesses and communities. Covid can at times stifle just the extent of how far a CAS project can go and reach people. 3. When planning out the coffee house for next school year, what I can work on over this summer is researching what has been done in the past and how I am going to approach it now concerning Covid protocols. I have done this already by researching the past experiences on the La Paz FaceBook pages, that is the evidence posted above. This is one of the flyers used back in 2018 and I now understand a little more about how the marketing worked for the past coffee houses.
